Data Center Contract Awarded
Social Security Administration data center in Urbana to cost $191.5 million.
The federal government has moved forward with a project that will add 200 jobs nearby in Urbana when the project is complete in 2015.
The U.S. General Services Administration awarded a $191.5 million contract to design and build the Social Security Administration's new national data facility.
Hensel Phelps Construction Co., based in Chantilly, Va., won the contract.

The project involves a 300,000 square foot facility, said Laurie Boyer, the executive director of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development.
The building will include data, office and warehouse space, according to a GSA statement. Sustainable materials will be used and the building will incorporate innovative sustainable technologies, including energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and on-site renewable energy sources, according to the GSA.
