Free Citizenship Application Screening Clinic Coming to Germantown (mocoshow.com) — A free citizenship application screening clinic is coming to the UpCounty Regional Services Center in Germantown on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 2–5 p.m. Montgomery County green card holders can get one-on-one eligibility reviews, fee-assistance guidance, and language support, with referrals to a later clinic for completing applications.
   

2. Kusshi Sushi's Germantown Location Moves Forward With New Permit (mocoshow.com) — Kusshi Sushi is moving ahead with its long-planned Germantown restaurant, securing a $150,000 permit to renovate the former Zane Japanese Eatery space next to Beers and Cheers. This will be Kusshi's first upcounty Montgomery County location, with opening details still to come as the brand continues expanding across the region.
   

3. More than 20 warrants tied to suspect in fatal Brandywine crash (wjla.com) — Germantown shoppers may recognize two stores now tied to a wider investigation, as court records allege thousands in beauty products and sunglasses were stolen from the local Ulta Beauty and TJ Maxx by a woman later involved in a fatal Brandywine crash. Authorities across multiple Maryland and Virginia counties say she faces more than 20 active warrants connected to organized retail theft cases.
   

4. Two Hate/Bias Incidents Among Calls Highlighted in MCPD Daily Crime Summary For Sept. 23 (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County Police reported several Sept. 23 incidents in the 5th District, which includes Germantown, from thefts at local businesses and homes to a hate/bias case involving a racial slur written in chalk. The daily summary also highlights auto thefts, airbag thefts, and another hate/bias incident elsewhere in the county.
   

5. Local Event: Party in Pink (patch.com) — Residents connected to Germantown are invited to a Party in Pink Networking-4-A-Cause happy hour on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 4–7 p.m. at 61 Vineyard in Damascus, benefiting Olney-based breast cancer nonprofit For 3 Sisters. Hosted by the Gaithersburg Germantown Upcounty Chamber, the event features wine, appetizers, raffles, and a best-pink-outfit contest open to all.
