1. MARC Train launches new direct service between Montgomery County, Baltimore (dcnewsnow.com) — Starting Sept. 28, Germantown riders will get a new direct weekday MARC Train connection to Baltimore as part of the Brunswick-Camden run-through service. One morning train will head to Baltimore and one evening train will return, cutting travel times by up to an hour and giving commuters an alternative to driving from Germantown and nearby stations.
   

2. Auto Thefts, Burglaries and Hate/Bias Incident Among Incidents in September 14 Crime Summary (mocoshow.com subscription) — Montgomery County police reported an auto theft and a hate/bias incident in the 5th District, which includes Germantown, Clarksburg, and Damascus. In Germantown's area, a vehicle was stolen on Herefordshire Way and a racial slur was found written on a middle school bookshelf, alongside other thefts and burglaries reported in neighboring districts.
   

3. How the Riding for Focus Program is Transforming Student Well-Being (railstotrails.org) — Students at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown are using the Riding for Focus cycling program to explore nearby Black Hill Trail and boost their mental and physical well-being. The school's PE teacher reports students gaining confidence, independence, and new ways to get around their community, while families are discovering local trails for biking, hiking, and relaxing together.
   

4. Wegmans Temporarily Closes Due to Server Issue (mocoshow.com) — If you usually shop at Wegmans in Rockville, be aware that location is temporarily closed due to a server and payment system issue, but the Germantown store is operating normally. The company hasn't given a reopening time yet, though the closure isn't expected to be long term, and online ordering is currently unavailable.
