2 House Fires Displace 9 In Glen Burnie: Officials
A Saturday fire displaced four adults while an early Monday morning fire displaced five adults and injured one firefighter in Glen Burnie.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Anne Arundel County firefighters battled two housefires in Glen Burnie recently, with a firefighter suffering minor injuries in the early Monday morning fire. Firefighters responded to the fire at 14 Georgia Ave. NW Monday at 1:21 a.m. The three-story single family home took 90 minutes for the 50 firefighters from three departments to control.
According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the accidental fire was started by hot embers from a pellet stove. First arriving firefighters found "heavy" fire conditions coming from the second floor. The occupants told firefighters they awoke to the smell of smoke and their smoke detectors sounding. The five adult occupants safely escaped and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The injured firefighter was cut after being struck by debris.
Anne Arundel County firefighters also responded to a house fire in Glen Burnie March 7 at approximately 11:30 p.m. The fire broke out at a one-story single family home at 504 Theresa Ave. More than two dozen firefighters battled the blaze for 20 minutes. The four adult occupants have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
