The Havre de Grace City Council recently approved the contract for a new director of economic development, and now that Adrean Troy has been sworn in, city officials outlined her role in a statement released Monday.

Troy will “support and grow Havre de Grace’s business footprint as well as oversee the city’s tourism and marketing efforts,” according to the statement.

Troy will also work on obtaining and administering grant funding.

“The City of Havre de Grace takes economic development very seriously,” Mayor Bill Martin said. “It is for this reason that we are proud to have Adrean Troy join our team.”

Troy is returning to Havre de Grace, where from 2011 to 2012 she supported the city’s grant program as assistant to the manager of economic development.

Since then, Troy has been a lead associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, working with clients at Aberdeen Proving Ground on strategic planning and communications.

Said Martin: “We have full confidence that Mrs. Troy will be a tremendous asset for our business community as well as our citizens.”

Troy has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary, with concentrations in marketing and accounting. Her experience also includes teaching in North Carolina and Virginia public schools and grant writing in Richmond, Va.

The announcement of Troy’s arrival in economic development comes soon after the city announced it was taking over Main Street responsibilities downtown.

The city’s previous economic development director, Tom Lofland, reportedly left several months ago.
