HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Cyclists stopped in Havre de Grace on Monday during their ride to remember a fallen Maryland soldier. They made a special stop at the Gold Star Family Memorial.

The cyclists were riding in memory of Army Sgt. Eric M. Houck, 25, a Perry Hall soldier who died in Afghanistan on June 10, 2017. Houck was one of three soldiers killed in an insider attack for which the Taliban said it was responsible.

Houck was survived by his wife and two young children.

The cyclists who stopped at the Gold Star monument are participating in a three-day, 180 mile journey called the Ride to Remember. It runs from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., and the cyclists ride in honor of those who have lost their lives in service.

The ride also serves as a fundraiser for surviving family members.
