Water Rescues Underway In North East

BREAKING: Firefighters in Havre de Grace say they are helping Cecil County first responders rescue those trapped by floodwaters.

NORTH EAST, MD — Firefighters are rescuing those trapped in their homes in Cecil County Tuesday afternoon. The Susquehanna Hose Company reported it sent its swiftwater team to assist with evacuating residents in Cecil County.

Multiple people were reportedly stuck, surrounded by floodwaters, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company.

It was not the first rescue call of the day for the swiftwater team in Havre de Grace. The swiftwater crew was called to help with a medical emergency on Fairway Court around 11 a.m.

In Havre de Grace, city officials reported localized flooding prompted the closure of Revolution Street and Juniata Street.

"Other streets may be closed during this weather event," according to the city. "We ask that you please stay off the roads and avoid all non-essential travel."

Harford County is under a flood warning until 5 p.m. due to heavy rain Tuesday morning that is likely to cause low-lying areas to become inundated.

Cecil and Harford counties are under a coastal flood warning until 3 a.m. Wednesday and a tropical storm warning due to Tropical Storm Isaias.

Nearby in Rising Sun, several roads were also flooded.
