Kensington House Fire Causes $500K In Damages
A fire that broke out Saturday at a home in Kensington caused about $500,000 in damages, according to authorities.
KENSINGTON, MD — A fire over the weekend caused an estimated $500,000 in damages to a home under construction in Kensington, authorities with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said.
The fire broke out on the 10200 block of Parkwood Drive just before 8 a.m. on Saturday. No injuries were reported as the home was under renovation.

MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said early findings suggest the fire was accidental, and that it was caused by welding done to a metal beam the night before the fire took place.

About 50 firefighters responded to the scene, where investigators say the fire was traced to the home's second floor.
