One commissioner compared the proposed walk from parking to shoreline to trekking from the Chesapeake Building down to Leonardtown Wharf, while others raised cost and usage concerns about the nearly $8.5 million project.
   

4. - Southern Maryland News Net (smnewsnet.com) — An inmate at the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown faces a second-degree assault charge after an August 31 altercation captured on surveillance video. Deputies say the other incarcerated man reported losing consciousness and was taken to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital, while a judicial officer has ordered the accused held without bond pending further proceedings.

St. Mary's College women's soccer edges Hood (somdnews.com) — Local soccer fans may recognize several Leonardtown High standouts now helping St. Mary's College women's team open its season with a 2–1 win over Hood. Freshman Charlotte Bryan, a 2026 Leonardtown graduate, scored in the comeback, and fellow Raider alum Addy Campbell is also on the Seahawks roster as they host home games this weekend.
