Wootton Senior Recognized in National Scholarship Competition
Elliott Davis, a senior at Wootton High, received third place in P.L.A.Y.'s annual "Scholars Helping Collars" contest.
P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You) recently selected the winners of its fourth-annual scholarship. The “Scholars Helping Collars” contest challenges high school seniors from across the country to submit an essay detailing their volunteer efforts to help animals.
Elliott Davis from North Potomac, M.D. received third place. A $1,000 scholarship was at stake for first place. For third place, Elliott receives a prize of a Garden Fresh plush toy set donated to the animal shelter of his choice.
His essay detailed a lifelong passion for animal welfare, which began by the realization that Chick-fil-a nuggets came from a chicken. At age five, Elliott became a vegetarian. He has since worked extensively with his local Humane Society, interned with Maryland's congressman John Delaney and currently interns for the Montgomery County MD Department of Environmental Protection.
