My Hero: Heather Lynette Sinclair

Heather is a survivor of many things in her life, from being raped as a young child, to an assault and rape while in her teens, and even rape by her therapists.  This is only to name a few of what she has been through.
Heather started Lynette's Law for Maryland two years ago and started fighting for other victims of therapist/professional abuse because there was no where for these victims to turn.  The police couldn't do anything because it was not a crime, the boards didn't do anything, and there was no one to help a victim of this horrendous act.  She was not a victim in any of their eyes.  There was no help for her anywhere.
Heather decided to fight to make this a crime in Maryland which led to her helping other states to make it a crime too.
House bill 33 is about Lynette's Law and will make professional abuse a crime in Maryland.  This bill was heard yesterday and we are still waiting to see if the house of delegates pass it.
Heather spoke of all these acts and how she would not cry for any of them.  How she was not a victim because of the fact that it wasn't a crime.  But, in our eyes she is not only a victim but a survivor of what she has gone through.  Heather did not cry during her testimony or while her opponents got up to testify why it shouldn't pass.  Although, I believe there were many there that did shed a tear for her, she did not.
When we went to leave the room a victim of therapist abuse, stopped Heather and told her she was there for her.  She had dealt with this many years ago and was glad to hear it was trying to become a law.  This woman has suffered for about 20 years and because of Heather she was there.  Heather did shed a tear but it wasn't because of all those things that she said she wouldn't cry, she cried for another victim.  She cried because of another person who suffered in silence for many years.
This is who Heather Lynette Sinclair is and this is why she is my hero.  Thank you Heather for standing up for all victims of this and for fighting for their rights.
