Odenton Shooting Update: Man Arrested After Stray Bullet Hospitalizes Woman, Police Say
Police said they arrested the suspect of Friday's shooting in Odenton. A stray bullet hospitalized a bystander who was hit in her apartment.

ODENTON, MD — Police announced Monday that they arrested the suspect accused of a Friday shooting that hospitalized an Odenton woman. Officers identified the arrestee as 37-year-old Damien Justin Lewis of Odenton.
The 23-year-old victim was hit by a stray bullet while she was sitting in her apartment. Officials expect her to survive. Authorities gave the bystander first aid until the Anne Arundel County Fire Department arrived and took her to an unnamed hospital for treatment of her injured extremity.
The shooting happened around 12:45 p.m. outside the Riverscape Apartments in the 700 block of Hammond Branch Road. Witnesses told officers they saw two people fighting, leading one of them to fire several shots from a long gun.

The suspect fled in an Audi sedan. Police reported that they stopped the car, detained the occupants and found a loaded AR-style rifle as well as a handgun in the vehicle.
Authorities did not immediately press charges, however. The official arrest announcement came Monday morning.

Back on the scene, investigators spotted numerous shell casings and a parked Nissan Rogue with its front two windows shattered.
