Police Resurface 2017 Severn Car Crash That Killed Teenage Girl

Anne Arundel County police seek more information about the hit-and-run that killed a 17-year-old girl in Severn in 2017.

SEVERN, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department seeks information about a 2017 hit-and-run that killed a teenager in Severn. The 17-year-old girl, Kiersten Wengert-Walko, was struck by a speeding car around 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 28, 2017.

The accident happened in the 7900 block of WB&A Road. Witnesses told police that Wengert-Walko had just left a house party in the 7800 block of WB&A Road.

She and a group of people were walking southbound in the northbound lane when the car emerged. Wengert-Walko could not get out of the way.

Medics took her to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. She died days later on Nov. 1.

The suspect fled the scene. Police say the vehicle is a silver passenger car with blue headlights and tinted windows. The vehicle sustained damage to the hood, windshield and front right bumper and headlight.
