Maryland house bill 33 is about professional abuse drawn up by Lynette's Law for Maryland. This bill is in it's second year with it stopping in Senator Brian Frosh's drawer. I don't understand why he won't support this bill and put it out for a vote. He supports abuse victims and this is a form of abuse. Is it something personal? Is it that he doesn't like the founder of Lynette's Law? What is his reasons? Nobody understands but him and he isn't talking.
Lynette's Law is about abuse from a professional. It is about how clients seek mental health help because of something in their life that isn't right. Most of these victims have gone through some kind of sexual abuse either as a child or teen. They have decided it was time to talk about it and heal from it. The therapist takes advantage of their state of mind, gets into their head so that they believe the only one that cares is them. Then they groom them into having sex with them. This is against the ethics. This is against the boards. This is a violation of their boundaries. If you don't believe me then look it up, do a google search on this happening. It is boundary violation, it is sexual exploitation, it is abuse, and it is rape. If you get a victim willing to speak out then they go to the professional boards and the therapist might or might not lose their license. The boards can't protect the victims. The boards won't reported it to the police. Some of these victims end up committing suicide because there is no help out there for them.
Is this what we want in Maryland? Is this what is being ignored in the Senate house? Why wouldn't you want to help these victims? This can happen to anyone: your mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, grandchild or anyone else you know. What would you do then? I bet you would have wished you did everything in your power to make this a crime. I bet you would think twice about turning your back on victims.
We beg you to do the right thing and vote on HB33 and make professional abuse a crime. Help those victims that are to afraid to speak out.
