Shooting at Crofton Party Becomes Homicide Four Years Later

An August 2011 shooting of a Glen Burnie man became a homicide when he died last week, police said.

The death last week of a Glen Burnie man seriously wounded four years ago in a Crofton shooting at a party has been ruled a homicide and police are asking witnesses to come forward.

Teyon Decarlos Jones, 26, of Glen Burnie, was shot on Aug. 7, 2011, in the 1800 block of Judicial Way in Crofton, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Officers say a party was held in the area and shots were fired.

Jones was driven to Baltimore Washington Medical Center by friends and transferred to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital for treatment. Because of the severe injuries, police say his quality of life had been adversely affected.

Several witnesses were located and evidence collected tied to the shooting investigation. The people who drove Jones to the hospital were also interviewed, but no charges were filed.

On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, while under medical care, Jones died. On Sunday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled his death was a homicide caused by complications from the gunshot wound received on Aug. 7, 2011.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the shooting that ultimately led to Jones’ death.
