Tobacco House Clerk Wrestles with Robber: Police

The Linthicum store clerk tried to stop a thief from grabbing cash from the register, say Anne Arundel County Police.

A store clerk wrestled with a robber Monday afternoon in an unsuccessful effort to stop the robbery of the Tobacco House in the 800 block of Nursery Road in Linthicum.

Anne Arundel County Police say the store clerk reported a man entered the shop and began looking at the items inside the business, seemingly interested in making a purchase. Instead, the suspect walked toward the door and reached into his pants pocket implying that he had a weapon, but no weapon was seen.

At that point, the suspect went behind the counter, grabbed cash from the register and pushed the clerk away as he tried to stop the theft. The suspect then pocketed the cash and walked toward the rear parking lot. A witness followed the man to the parking lot, where he saw him drive away in a black Jeep toward Hammonds Ferry Road.

Police continue to search for the suspect, who is described as a white man in his early 50s, about 6’0”, 160-180 pounds with brownish/gray hair and black-framed eyeglasses, wearing a dark-colored zip-up jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.
