Owings Mills Eatery On OpenTable's 100 Best Restaurants List

OWINGS MILLS, MD — OpenTable has released its list of the 100 Best Restaurants in America for 2017, and three Maryland restaurants made the cut. One of them was in Owings Mills, while two were in Baltimore City.

Linwoods at 25 Crossroads Drive in Owings Mills made the cut.

So did The Charleston at 1000 Lancaster Street in Baltimore and Hersh's at 1843 Light Street in Baltimore.

OpenTable culled the best restaurants based on more than 12 million reviews submitted by verified diners of more than 26,000 restaurants nationwide. The reviews it looked at were from Nov. 1, 2016, to Oct. 31, 2017. All restaurants with a minimum "overall" score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Only 24 states and Washington, D.C., were represented.

"The 100 Best Restaurants in America for 2017 are consistently putting out delicious dishes, providing impeccable service, and paying attention to every detail to orchestrate one-of-a-kind dining experiences time and again," OpenTable states.

Reviewers of Linwoods mentioned the chefs and servers as being attentive, and the main word used to describe the food was "delicious." Here's a taste of recent reviews:

"The chef is not just amazing; he’s considerate also. I have severe allergies and he has modified many amazing dishes just for me. Our server was so awesome that she remembered my exact allergies!"

"Consistently good food. We eat here several times a year and although there are some seasonal menu changes, the food and preparation are always excellent. Service is pleasant and attentive and Chef Linwood usually circulates to make sure everyone is satisfied."

"There were nine of us, so we got a nice sampling of the menu, although several people ordered and enjoyed the delicious scallops entree. Their fried oysters are some of the best I've tasted, the lobster tempura impeccably prepared..."

"Our lunch was very delicious. The most amazing thing about our visit was that the wonderful Pastry Chef transformed a very obviously homemade (and not very pretty) birthday cake we brought into a thing of beauty!! He frosted it and added some strawberries...It was wonderful and so very appreciated."

Epic meal. Such skill and creativity. The ravioli are a tour de force.

I have visited Hersh's at least once a month for the last four months, and I have never been let down. It is a great little South Baltimore gem. The atmosphere is great, the staff is great, and most importantly - the food is delicious. The pasta always tastes fresh, and the pizza is cooked perfectly. Our last visit was for a birthday, and I wrote a small note on the reservation wondering if there was a way to have a small surprise during our dinner - Hersh's delivered. I'm sure I will be back very soon.

We had an excellent dinner. Our terrific server recommended a tomato appetizer that was excellent as was the salad with goat cheese and hazelnuts. The pizza was perfectly prepared. Ingredients were tasty and the crust crunchy. If you see the doughnuts with corn on the desert menu, they are a must. Just fantastic.

And last but not least, The Charleston had rave reviews as well.

"The service is amazing and every bite is perfection."

Last year, only The Charleston made the list, so Maryland is moving up. Other states that had three restaurants on the list this year were Florida, Georgia, Ohio and South Carolina.

Nearby, D.C. had six restaurants on the list. California and New York had the most, with 19 each.
