Owings Mills Mall Redevelopment: 3 Stores Announced
Several stores have been linked to the open-air shopping destination planned where the Owings Mills Mall used to be.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Three major retailers have reportedly been confirmed as future tenants of the Owings Mills Mall redevelopment site.
Costco, Lowe's and Dick's Sporting Goods plan to open at the shopping center when it is unveiled in 2019, with construction expected to start in 2018, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
Councilman Julian Jones alluded to the stores having interest in the project earlier this year. At a meeting with constituents in the spring at the Owings Mills Library, Patch previously reported that Jones said a home improvement business, sporting goods store and membership-only shopping warehouse may sign on.

Real estate company Kimco is handling the redevelopment project, which will be an open-air shopping complex along the lines of Hunt Valley.
While Kimco's spokesperson would not confirm the three future tenants, she said that the company was in the midst of due diligence negotiations with the retailers and expected to make a "more detailed update this fall" regarding the Owings Mills site, the business journal reported.

The future shopping area will be called Owings Mills Town Center, according to Kimco.
The Owings Mills Mall on Mill Run Circle locked its doors in September 2015, months after it was featured by the New York Times in January 2015 as an example of a dying mall. In the article, Kimco Mid-Atlantic executive Tom Simmons said that Towson Town Center took away much of the Owings Mills customers.
Since it closed, the mall has been demolished to make way for future development.
