Police ID 4 Officers In Death Of Owings Mills Man
Four officers are on leave from the Franklin precinct after an Owings Mills died in their custody, officials said.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Following the in-custody death of a man in Owings Mills last week, police said four officers are on routine administrative leave. Authorities recently released the names of those involved in the case.
According to authorities, they had been called to a home in the unit block of Gwynnswood Road for a report of an injured person Tuesday night. Police declined to provide further information about why officers were called to the residence.
While police were at the home, officials said the man became combative, and officers used a Taser to subdue him. Gamel Antonio Brown, 30, of the unit block of Gwynnswood Road, went into cardiac arrest and died at an area hospital, officials reported.

Four officers are on leave during the investigation into the death of Brown, according to police. All are assigned to the Franklin precinct, including one who is part of a field training program:

- Officer First Class Miller, 20.5-year veteran of the department
- Officer First Class Besaw, 13-year veteran
- Officer McElfish, 4-year veteran
- Officer Cantrell, probationary officer
Police declined to provide any further information about the case, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation into the in-custody death.
