Ravens Donate $10K to Ellicott City Flood Victims

BALTIMORE, MD — The Baltimore Ravens donated $10,000 to the United Way for victims of the Ellicott City flood.

Michael Campanaro, who grew up in Howard County, announced the donation on behalf of the team.

Campanaro said his first response upon hearing news of the flood was to contact his brother, who lives on Frederick Road, to make sure he was OK.

"It hits home," Campanaro said.

Dozens have been displaced after more than 6 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours Saturday evening, killing two who were swept up in vehicles by the floodwaters and damaging dozens of buildings.

To support the flood victims, the United Way of Central Maryland established a fund called “ECStrong" exclusively for relief for those affected by Saturday night’s severe flooding. To contribute, text "ECStrong" to 51555 or donate online. The Ravens' donation will go to this fund.

The team is also sponsoring shirts that say "I Heart Ellicott City" for $10 that will benefit the Ellicott City Partnership, which is dedicated to economic development in the historic downtown district. In addition to the Ravens, other sponsors include WBAL and 98 Rock.
