Traffic Alert: Presidential Visit, Special Events to Impact Baltimore Roads

Maryland transportation officials are asking drivers to anticipate significant delays in downtown Baltimore City and surrounding highways on Friday.

The Baltimore Office of Emergency Management said delays will impact Interstate 95, I-70, I-695 and Locust Point for a “visiting dignitary” at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday.

President Barack Obama’s helicopter touched down in the city just after 4 p.m., according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported he had taken off in a motorcade by 4:30 p.m.

He paid a visit to Fort McHenry for the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner, then was proceeding on to a private fundraiser, according to Fox 45.

The motorcade was traveling from Arbutus to Pikesville, WNEW reported after 4:30 p.m.

Traffic will remain heavy through rush hour, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported, due to the Baltimore Orioles double-header against the New York Yankees and Star-Spangled Spectacular events.
