A new restaurant is planning to open in White Marsh as a franchise re-launches itself in North America.

Bostonโ€™s Restaurant and Sports Bar offers fare like pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, sandwiches, wings, desserts and other dishes. It has more than 30 locations in the U.S. and Mexico and plans to double that number by 2018, according to Business Wire.

Recently, Bostonโ€™s signed a franchise agreement to open five locations in Baltimore and Harford counties as well as Baltimore Cityโ€”Bel Air and White Marsh restaurants will be the first to open, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

The White Marsh restaurant will open in 2016, according to Bostonโ€™s. The Bel Air location is expected to open in 2015, and officials are still in negotiations about the location, a spokesperson for the company told Patch.

Each restaurant will offer Bostonโ€™s signature casual, contemporary atmosphere where families can dine, as well as a separate sports bar that pays tribute to local teams.

Dr. Keith Asante will oversee the five restaurants in greater Baltimore, according to Business Wire, with two additional partners handling daily operations. Asante owns a Baltimore IT company and is an adjunct professor at University of Maryland University College in information systems and has experience including IT consulting for restaurateurs.

โ€œ...our current restaurants [are] performing wellโ€ and the executive team has the energy and infrastructure to foster franchise ownership, Bostonโ€™s Chief Operating Officer Troy Cooper said of factors driving the expansion. โ€œNow is the right time for Bostonโ€™s to resume our franchise efforts,โ€ Cooper added. The expansion begins in the Baltimore area and will continue throughout the country until 2018.
