How Perry Hall's Legislators Voted on Gambling Expansion
Local representatives were split, but not necessarily along party lines.

Gov. Martin O'Malley signed gambling expansion into law on Wednesday, following the bill's late night approval during a , Patch .
Unofficial tallies show the bill's passage in the Senate 32-14 and the House 71-57. Provisions allow for a to be built in Prince George's County, table games at existing slot machine locations and pull tab bingo machines in veterans clubs.
Perry Hall's delegation, which includes legislative districts 7 and 8, split, but not necessarily along party lines.

State Sen. Kathy Klausmeier, a Democrat and longtime Perry Hall resident, has become a major proponent of table games expansion, filing an in 2011. She was joined in a "yea" vote by Republican State Sen. J.B. Jennings, who also represents part of Perry Hall.
Democratic Del. Eric Bromwell also voted in favor of expansion, and has using revenue from expanded gambling venues in place of raising the state gas tax. Republican Del. Rick Impallaria also voted in favor in the bill.

Perry Hall's remaining delegates opposed the bill. While an unofficial tally showed Del. Kathy Szeliga not voting, she announced in an email to constituents that she voted against the bill.
Szeliga stated:
I voted no because the process was wrong in rushing this huge change in policy through in a few short days. Citizens and interested parties did not have the proper amount of time to study the issue and let their legislators know of intended and unintended consequences.
