Blaze at Police Compound Caused $100K in Damage: Fire Marshal
There was a fire Tuesday inside a building at Maryland State Police headquarters.

PIKESVILLE, MD — Authorities said that a fire broke out at the Maryland State Police headquarters Tuesday night, causing $100,000 in damage.
The blaze began around 6:15 p.m. in a storage room in "Building C" at the Maryland State Police compound in the 1200 block of Reisterstown Road, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The fire marshal is one of the departments that is headquartered out of Building C.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze in the storage room under control, and there were no injuries reported.
Most of the fire was contained to the storage room, while there was heat, soot and smoke damage through all three stories of the building, according to the fire marshal.

The blaze began when an electric fan failed and ignited objects nearby, the fire marshal reported.
