21 Nonprofits Partner With Bank of America To Boost Economic Opps

As Part of $1.25 Global Commitment, Financial Behemoth Seeks To Address Food Insecurity, Affordable Housing, Employment & Community Health

So far in 2021, a total of 21 not-for-profit organizations throughout the DC metro region have received funding from Bank of America to enhance opportunities for the citizens of their community.
So far in 2021, a total of 21 not-for-profit organizations throughout the DC metro region have received funding from Bank of America to enhance opportunities for the citizens of their community.

A total of 21 local nonprofit partners throughout Greater Washington and the DMV region have received $1.375 million in partnership grants from Bank of America through the first half of 2021. That's according to a Bank of America press release issued Aug. 26.

Combined with local philanthropic investments the bank has made from its $1.25 billion global commitment to fight racial and economic inequality, the total granted locally in 2021 rises to $2.7 million.

The bank's partner organizations offer services and resources to address a range of community needs, with a focus on historically underrepresented and underserved populations and neighborhoods. These organizations, grouped by their primary community impact, are:

• Economic empowerment – Goodwill Industries of Greater Washington; Lift Inc.; United Way of Frederick County; United Way of the National Capital Area

• Entrepreneurship and leadership – Black Girl Ventures; Asian American Leadership, Empowerment and Development (AA LEAD)

• Food insecurity and nutrition – Capital Area Food Bank; Manna Food Center; Bread for the City

• Healthcare and counseling – Mary's Center; Northern Virginia Family Services; Bright Beginnings

• Temporary and affordable housing – Carpenter's Shelter; Casa de Maryland; N Street Village; Cornerstones

• Youth employment and workforce development – Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington; La Cocina; DC Central Kitchen; Urban Alliance; Year Up of the National Capital Region
