A Rockville area medical practice will pay nearly $400,000 to settle allegations it billed for cardiac tests that were never performed.
ROCKVILLE, MD — A cardiac practice with multiple offices in Montgomery County has agreed to pay the federal government nearly $400,000 to settle allegations related to improper billing practices, prosecutors said Monday.
From Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 21, 2016, Cardiac Associates, P.C. allegedly administered tests to patients and then charged Medicare and Medicaid for additional outdated tests that weren't performed, according to the settlement agreement.
Cardiac Associates, P.C. has offices in Rockville, Olney, Laurel, and Germantown.

"The claims resolved by this settlement are allegations only," the U.S. Attorney's Office of Maryland said in a statement. "The settlement is not an admission of liability by Cardiac Associates, P.C., nor a concession by the United States that its claims are not well founded."
