9/11 Ceremony: County To Honor Residents Who Died 20 Years Ago

Montgomery County will hold a ceremony in Rockville on Friday morning to honor the 11 county residents who died on 9/11.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — This Saturday marks 20 years since 9/11, when 2,977 people were killed during terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Eleven people from Montgomery County were killed that day, and to honor their memory the county will be holding a remembrance ceremony on Friday.

The county will remember the following residents:

  • Dr. Gerald Paul Fisher
  • Capt. Lawrence D. Getzfred
  • Michele M. Heidenberger
  • Angela Marie Houtz
  • Teddington Hamm Moy
  • Lt. Darin H. Pontell
  • Scott A. Powell
  • Todd Hayes Reuben
  • Patricia J. Statz
  • Ernest M. Willcher

County Executive Marc Elrich, Rockville Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton, County Council President Tom Hucker and members of the County Council will be at the ceremony to read the names of the people who died.
