AAPI Ribbon Cutting at Potomac Valley Rehab and Health Center
Grand Opening of Montgomery County's First Asian American and Pacific Islanders Program!
Potomac Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center opened its new Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Program on Wednesday, November 3rd! The AAPI Program will be the first of its kind in Montgomery County Maryland and is meant to create a diverse environment. The doctors and staff will speak mandarin, and the entire program is centered around their culture (food, activities, everything!) According to the federal Office of Minority Health, Asian Americans are most at risk for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and conditions including hepatitis B and liver disease. And there is no doubt that language barriers are an obstacle for Asian Americans seeking healthcare. Potomac Valley's AAPI Program is on a mission to break down these barriers and provide top-quality healthcare for this community.
The grand opening was a huge success - Senator Susan Lee and Congressman David J. Trone were in attendance and participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The facility had also arranged for a cultural performance with music, and more! Potomac Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center want to promote inclusion, diversity, culture, language, heritage, and quality care. The AAPI Program is helping the Asian American and Pacific Islander population gain access to quality care and break the barriers of healthcare disparities.
