ATV Driver Killed in Crash Not Wearing Helmet: Police

Montgomery County Police have identified the Boyds man who died in a crash with a Germantown driver.

DARNESTOWN, MD — Authorities have released the names of the two drivers involved in a fatal crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Whites Ferry Road and Sugarland Road

Montgomery County Police say Mark Douglas Hutchinson, 26, of the 16900 block of White Ground Road in Boyds, died when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving collided with a car. The accident happened just after 3 p.m.

A 2002 Lexus IS300 driven by Mary Jane Elizabeth Chinchilla, 19, of the 19000 block of Highstream Drive in Germantown was eastbound on Whites Ferry Road. Police say a 2003 Honda Rincon four-wheeler ATV driven by Hutchinson was northbound on Sugarland Road when the two vehicles collided.

Hutchinson was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries Monday evening. Investigators do not believe the victim was wearing a helmet.

Chinchilla was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators ask anyone who saw the fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773- 6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
