Judge orders man held without bond in fatal Potomac Woods Plaza shooting (bethesdamagazine.com) — A Montgomery County judge has ordered a 21-year-old man held without bond after a fatal shooting at Rockville's Potomac Woods Plaza following a bar fight near Quincy's Potomac Bar & Grille. Prosecutors say more than 20 shots were fired and the victim, a 33-year-old man, died from a severed femoral artery; the suspect's next court date is October 16.
   

2. New and Coming Soon to Twinbrook Quarter (mocoshow.com) — Rockville's Twinbrook Quarter along Rockville Pike is quickly filling with new restaurants, shops, and services, from Brazilian steakhouse Terra Gaucha and Molly Tea to ZiZa Kabob and Bonne Nail Bar. Residents can already visit several open spots near Wegmans while watching construction progress on Slurp Noodles and the upcoming RIVA Boutique later this year.
   

3. Local Gigs & Services: New uTest Project: Study For Dog Owners ($150) (patch.com) — Dog owners in and around Rockville can earn $150 by joining a one-hour smart home technology study at a local mock-apartment lab, where you and your pet perform simple activities while motion-tracking devices collect data. Participants must live within about an hour of Rockville, be available on weekdays, and bring a well-socialized dog for light activity.
   

4. Americans through to finals on Day 3 of Acro Junior Worlds, World Youth Competitions • USA Gymnastics (usagym.org) — A Rockville gymnast, Zoe DeShields, helped her 12–18 women's group qualify for the combined finals at the Acro Junior Worlds in Pesaro, Italy, with a strong all-around score. Alongside teammates from Potomac and Virginia, she'll represent the U.S. in Sunday's final, while several other American groups posted solid results and reserve positions.
   

5. Taneicia Lewis's GoFundMe Profile (gofundme.com) — A Rockville-based friend is seeking help for Katey Door, who is hospitalized at Shady Grove Hospital and facing multiple serious mental and physical health challenges while currently nonresponsive. With her family absent and her young son in state care, donations would support better long-term care and a safe living situation once she can leave the hospital.
