Rockville Safeway Celebrates Its Grand Opening Weekend with Array of Activities
Weekend Features Celebrity Chef, The Great Kosher Chocolate Factory and a Special Menorah Lighting.

Safeway celebrated the grand opening of its largest Montgomery County store – at 1800 Rockville Pike in Rockville – with an official ribbon-cutting earlier this week, and will continue the grand opening activities and deals through this weekend.
Celebrity Chef Huda will be in the store on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 12 until 2 p.m. to present a cooking demonstration featuring penne pasta with chicken sausage topped with a robust tomato sauce, olives, artichokes and capers, and a creamy spinach and kale dip served with roasted garlic matzo crackers. The CEO of Pretty and Delicious, Huda has demonstrated her culinary skills on national, regional and local television shows, winning an episode of Food Network’s Cuthroat Kitchen and competing on ABC’s The Taste, along with appearances on many local news shows on ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. She has also served as a lifestyle expert and contributor for The Washington Post, the Washington Informer and The ROOT.
The Great Kosher Chocolate Factory takes the spotlight on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m., offering a workshop that teaches participants about the traditions of kashrut while they make and eat chocolate. Participants will mold dairy-free and soy-free dark chocolates into a variety of shapes – including Menorahs and dreidels – and learn about making chocolate from scratch. The event will bring families together for a tasty and educational experience as it highlights the Safeway’s kosher options.
