Muslim/Jewish Unity Vigil in Silver Spring Thursday Night
Muslim and Jewish women will lead a unity vigil Thursday night in Silver Spring to protest President Donald Trump's policies.

SILVER SPRING, MD — As part of the group "Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom," a coalition of Muslim and Jewish women, women will lead a unity vigil Thursday night in downtown Silver Spring to protest President Donald Trump's policies, including his immigration ban, which is currently stalled in federal court. Other vigils will happen across the country Thursday night; there's one in Falls Church, VA, as well.
Organizers write:
Muslim and Jewish women of the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom invite the community to join a unity vigil to affirm the values that hold us together. We feel the need to restore and recharge our resolve to protect the human dignity of each person. The challenges we face are easier when we are reminded that we are not alone - together we find courage to speak out and stand up for those who cannot.
Women led, we invite families from all faith and belief traditions to join us as we invoke the universal messages of love and dignity from our sacred prayers and song - affirming we all have a place in a beloved community.
Together, we can dispel the isolation and disorientation caused by those who seek to shock our sensibility and desire for peace. Join us as we stand together to find inspiration and courage to resist injustice and hatred
The Sisterhood works to build strong relationships between Muslim and Jewish women based on developing trust and respecting and ending anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish sentiment.
