Man Who Sexually Abused Girl Charged With Human Trafficking: MCPD

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Maryland man who used social media to meet and sexually abuse a 14-year-old girl in Silver Spring was arrested on human trafficking-related charges, police said.

Mark David Peay, 32, of Severna Park, was charged with sexually soliciting a minor, prostitution, and taking or causing someone to be taken for human trafficking, court records showed.

Peay was on his way to pick up the teen when he was arrested in Silver Spring on Wednesday. He had planned to sexually assault her for the second time, Montgomery County Police said.

An investigation by detectives found that Peay had met the underage girl on social media. One day in late April, Peay met the teen at a Silver Spring hotel, paid her money, and proceeded to sexually assault her, police said.

Detectives are concerned there may be more victims. Anyone with additional information is urged to call police at 240-773-5958.
