RECREATION PROGRAM AIDE

The City of Takoma Park Recreation Department has immediate openings for motivated part-time Program Aides to assist with the Morning Addition Program. Duties include helping with homework, leading age appropriate recreation activities, facility set-up and escorting participants to school. Program Aide will be expected to enforce all rules and regulations and inspect facilities on daily basis. Candidate must be very punctual and highly dependable. Hourly Range: $7.50 - $8.25 depending on qualifications. Two (2) vacancies; Morning Addition hours are from 7 - 9 a.m., Mon-Fri. Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must possess or have the ability to possess standard CPR/First Aid certifications. The City of Takoma Park Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic part-time Program Leader to serve as an on-site coordinator for the Afternoon Addition Program. Duties include planning and administering the aftercare program, maintaining the medical logs and incident reports, maintaining communication with parents and schools, inspect facility daily for hazards and address immediate concerns that present a safety risk. Candidate must have the ability to think critically and creatively. Incumbent should be a motivated team player, with good communication skills and express a willingness to work with children. Hourly Range: $11.75 - $13.25 depending on qualifications. Afternoon Addition hours are from 3 – 6:30 p.m., Mon-Fri. Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree from accredited college with course work in recreation, human services, social work, early childhood education or a related field; and, two to three years of progressively responsible child care experience or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Valid State Driver's License. Program Leader must be at least twenty (21) years of age and possess or have the ability to possess Standard CPR/First Aid certifications. Approved 45-hour child care certificate is preferred.
