The Arc Baltimore Honors Eve Hill for Advocacy Leadership

Brown, Goldstein & Levy Partner Eve Hill is the recipient of The Arc Baltimore’s annual Award for Advocacy Leadership in Memory of Stanley S. Herr.

Presented during The Arc’s recent Catalyst for Change Awards Ceremony, the Award for Advocacy Leadership honors an individual whose entire career has been defined by exceptional advocacy, thought leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“A nationally recognized civil rights attorney dedicated to advancing disability rights and LGBTQ+ equality, Eve Hill works with organizations nationwide to expand education, engagement, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities,” says Kathleen McNally Durkin, The Arc Baltimore’s Chief Executive Officer. “Eve’s lifelong commitment to systemic change makes her exceptionally deserving of the Stanley Herr Advocacy Leadership Award.”

Hill is at the forefront of disability rights litigation. She currently represents a coalition challenging Social Security Administration cuts which would harm people with disabilities and older adults. In 2024, she secured a major victory for unhoused veterans with disabilities against the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Hill currently serves as Chair of the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, advancing landmark civil rights protections for individuals with mental disabilities. From 2011–2017, she was Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, overseeing disability rights, education, and Title VI enforcement.

Through its Catalyst for Change Awards program, The Arc Baltimore recognizes those individuals who have gone that extra mile in their commitment and service to the organization and those people with developmental disabilities who are recipients of The Arc’s programs and services.

The awards ceremony was preceded by The Arc Baltimore’s Annual Meeting, which included election of Board officers and directors.
