Armed Robbers Demand Shoes in Parking Lot: Towson Crime

Three armed robberies and two burglaries were reported in Towson this week, police reported.

TOWSON, MD — Here are some of the crimes recently reported in the Towson area, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Three of the incidents in the past week involved suspects who were armed with handguns, police said.

A man was robbed of his shoes at gunpoint in the Papa John's parking lot in the 1500 block of East Joppa Road. At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, three people forced a man toward the back of the parking lot when one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim. A second suspect went through the victim's pockets, and a third suspect picked up the victim's shoes. After the armed robbery, the trio left and got into a getaway vehicle that was waiting and the victim left as well.

A juvenile was the victim of an armed robbery in the unit block of Acorn Circle. At 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, the youth was meeting with two people to buy a cell phone. After they took the money from the juvenile's hands, one showed a handgun and assaulted the victim. Both suspects left.

Liquor, a gift card and jewelry were stolen from a residence in the 1800 block of Circle Road. The break-in happened between 9 a.m. and noon on Friday, Sept. 9. The burglary suspects were taken into custody while leaving in their vehicle.

Cash and a cell phone were taken in an armed robbery in the 8700 block of Loch Raven Boulevard. The two suspects were armed with handguns in the robbery, which occurred at 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7.

Video games, a tablet and game system were stolen from the 8300 block of Byington Road. The burglary was reported at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8.
