Towson Bookstore Plans To Close: Report

The Barnes & Noble in downtown Towson will reportedly be shuttering this spring.

TOWSON, MD — Barnes & Noble will reportedly be leaving Towson Circle this spring.

The move comes as the area at the corner of Joppa Road approaches a major redevelopment project, and the bookstore follows other retailers such as Trader Joe's in vacating the premises.

The store will shutter in May, according to Baltimore magazine. A Barnes & Noble executive told the magazine that the reason was because the business would not survive the upcoming construction project.

Retail Properties of America is redeveloping Towson Circle, the area where the bookseller was located. Initial plans reportedly called for Barnes & Noble to vacate its below-grade space and consolidate onto street level.
