Grand Entryway at The Shops at Kenilworth to Usher in $20M Renovation Project
The shopping center on Kenilworth Drive in Towson will be open throughout renovations, which will continue into 2017.
TOWSON, MD — The new entryway at The Shops at Kenilworth will be unveiled on Friday, symbolic as the gateway to what officials say is a $20 million renovation project that will make the shopping center more welcoming.
Domed wood ceilings and canopy lighting will greet people entering the shops that face Kenilworth Drive.
The grand entrance is part of the plan to rejuvenate the shopping center that was built in 1979, according to Greenberg Gibbons, the Owings Mills-based developer overseeing the project.

"The new entrance is an important step in modernizing The Shops at Kenilworth," Brian Gibbons, chair and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, said in a statement. "We're proud to be giving this community gem the special polish it deserves."
Renovations at the shopping center began last year with Stebbins Anderson, and will continue into 2017. Stores will remain open during the renovations. Trader Joe's, which is under construction next to the shopping center, will open for business in 2017 too.

The new grand entryway is expected to improve the flow of traffic. Other touches coming as part of the renovation include a rooftop garden and wine bar.
A ribbon-cutting for the new entryway is planned for 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, at The Shops at Kenilworth, 800 Kenilworth Drive, Towson.
