Accidental Gunfire Prompts Review In Baltimore County: Police

Police said the accidental gunfire near Halstead Academy Tuesday could lead to charges.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police said the state's attorney in Baltimore County is reviewing an incident that resulted in a road closure and put a school on alert Tuesday near Towson. What prompted the response was a report of firearm discharging.

After the firearm-related call on Saturn Court, police said Hillsway Avenue was closed between Halstead Road and Wentworth Avenue until 3 p.m. Tuesday. Dismissal at the nearby Halstead Academy is at 3:30 p.m. The school is about 0.2 mile from where the incident reportedly occurred.

The legally registered owner of a firearm had been unloading ammunition when the person accidentally discharged the weapon, the Baltimore County Police Department reported Wednesday.
