Loch Raven Student Charged As Juvenile: Police
The boy accused of bringing a pellet gun to Loch Raven High School faces 3.5 years in jail and $3,500 in fines if convicted of two charges.

TOWSON, MD — The student accused of bringing a pellet gun to Loch Raven High School last week has been charged. Police said the boy has been charged as a juvenile with disturbing school activities and having a dangerous weapon on school property. Because he is being charged as a juvenile, his identity will not be released.
Disturbing school activities is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $2,500, up to six months in jail or both. Having a weapon on school property is also a misdemeanor for which a conviction can result in a maximum $1,000 fine, up to three years in jail or both.
The charges came after Loch Raven High School went into a lockdown on Thursday because of a report that a student on campus had a gun with him. A fellow student had alerted the school resource officer that the boy had a gun in his backpack, according to police, who said the lockdown took effect around 11:45 p.m. and lasted for approximately 45 minutes.

A 17-year-old student captured the scene on video with his cell phone. He said that he was not aware at first that the person who prompted the lockdown was in his AP economics classroom, where Fox 45 reported a teacher pulled the younger boy inside because he was in the hallway, which was not permitted based on protocol.
The boy was "out of breath" and "really on edge" when he came into the classroom, according to the student who captured the arrest on film.
Tactical officers came to the classroom and apprehended the out-of-breath boy after the teacher emailed administrators, according to the student who filmed it.
The Loch Raven lockdown occurred the day after 17 people were killed in a high school shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, in the jurisdiction where the shooting occurred, said that there were multiple "copycat" threats after the Valentine's Day massacre at the high school in the southeastern Florida town, ABC News reported.
