Towson Man Charged in Armed Robbery at Toys R Us
Police said suspect was found hiding in a box inside the store.

The suspect in a Towson Toys R Us holdup that occurred Wednesday has been charged and is being held without bail, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Elbert Darell Crump, 45, of the 1600 block of Mussula Road, was charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of first-degree assault and two counts of using a weapon to commit a felony/violent crime, court records show.
The charges stem from an armed robbery reported at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday in the Towson Place shopping center in the 1200 block of Putty Hill Avenue, police said in a statement Thursday.

As he was taking cash from the registers, multiple people inside the store called police, the statement said.
Within two minutes, police were at the scene, and as the suspect was walking out of the store, he saw them and retreated into the Toys R Us, according to the statement.
“He was jumping around inside the building. He obviously couldn’t decide what to do,” Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson told ABC 2 News.
Police said Johnson, who happened to be in the area, was among those who responded to the scene.
Although most people had left the store during the robbery, some who were inside sheltered in place until tactical teams entered the store after 3 p.m., the statement said.
Officials found Crump hiding in a box, according to police.
Police used surveillance video that was inside the store and other technology to locate the suspect, ABC 2 News reported.
Crump was taken into custody without incident, police said.
One person was taken from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of a condition unrelated to the robbery, according to police.
Roads in the area were temporarily closed and so were stores near the Toys R Us, police said.
Crump is scheduled to appear in Baltimore County District Court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 20.
