MASSACHUSETTS — The 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks will be observed across the state and nation on Sunday. Cities, towns and private organizations are planning a wide variety of remembrance ceremonies and activities to mark the day.

Out of the 2,996 9/11 victims, 206 were from Massachusetts. The victims included residents like Bill Weems of Marblehead, who was aboard United Flight 175, and Sandwich native Capt. Gerald Francis Deconto, who was in the Pentagon on 9/11.

Here are some local options for ceremonies and activities on the 21st anniversary:

Beverly: The Massachusetts Task Force will hold a 9/11 memorial ceremony at its headquarters in Beverly. Details here.

Boston: The Massachusetts 9/11 Fund will hold its annual ceremony at the state Capitol Sunday morning. Details here.

Carver: King Richard's Faire will hold a moment of remembrance on the jousting field. Details here.

Lawrence: The Lawrence Firefighters will hold an annual remembrance ceremony. Details here.

Marshfield: The town is one of 75 across the U.S. selected to host a 9/11 DAY Flag of Honor. Details here.

Newton: The city's 9/11 memorial committee will host a ceremony at the fire department headquarters Sunday morning. Details here.

Pepperell: A memorial ceremony will be held at the town's memorial to the global war on terror. Details here.

Princeton: A 9/11 memorial picnic and hike will take place at Mt. Wachusett. Details here.

Sudbury: The town will host its annual remembrance ceremony at the 9/11 memorial garden. Details here.

Westfield: The town will hold three events Sunday to mark the 9/11 anniversary. Details here.
