The search for a missing person has been suspended after a boat was found at Manchester-by-the-Sea this past weekend.
Meanwhile, another search was suspended in the aftermath of a medical aircraft carrying six people that disappeared off the coast.
Plus, two people were rescued from a car after it plunged into a Beverly lake.
1 Dead, 1 Missing, 1 Injured After Boat Found Near Manchester-by-the-Sea
The agency was notified around 4:30 p.m. Saturday of a recreational vessel going in slow circles south of Graves Beach with no one visible aboard. A Coast Guard crew located the runaway boat and found a dog on board. Beverly and Manchester-by-the-Sea harbormasters each recovered a person from the water, with one flown to Massachusetts General Hospital and the other, who was dead on arrival. The search for a missing 37-year-old continued into Sunday before it was suspended.
Search For 6 Missing Suspended After Medical Aircraft Disappears Off MA Coast
The Federal Aviation Administration had notified the Coast Guard around 2 a.m. Saturday that contact had been lost with the Gulfstream G100 bound for Boston from Bermuda. The plane had four crew members and two passengers aboard when it departed Bermuda's L.F. Wade International Airport for the nighttime flight to Massachusetts. FlightAware data shows the flight plunged from 23,500 feet to 11,000 feet at around 1 a.m. The search was suspended on Sunday.
2 Rescued From North Shore Lake After Car Wound Up In Water
Hamilton police said first responders arrived at the boat launch of the lake at about 10 a.m. to find the car taking on water and its two occupants in good condition after a good Samaritan helped them to shore. Police said the car was extricated from the lake early Friday afternoon with the help of New Beverly Auto and the Beverly Dive Team. Both individuals were treated on scene by EMS.
MA Contractor Gets Prison Time For Home Improvement Scams, DA Says
William Pusateri was sentenced to up to six years in prison after scamming 11 residents, including senior citizens, out of more than $15,000. He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of larceny for taking money from residents in Foxborough, Sharon, Dedham and Westwood after promising to complete driveway or other home improvement projects. Pusateri must also serve 18 months of probation after his release and pay restitution in an amount to be determined later.
Marblehead High School Mourns Death Of Student-Athlete
Marblehead High School was mourning the death of senior three-sport athlete Owen Coyne after his family shared news of his passing Friday. Coyne was a captain and member of the school's football, hockey and lacrosse teams, and was remembered by his family as a beloved son, brother and teammate.
