This Diner Is The 'Most Iconic' In MA, According To Business Insider List

MASSACHUSETTS — A Boston restaurant was included among Business Insider's recent list of iconic diners in each state.

According to the list, The Most Iconic Diner In Every State, chrome stools and menus filled with classic comfort foods have made diners quintessentially American.

"From decades-old landmarks...to no-frills lunch counters that have quietly become cultural icons in their respective towns, these are the most iconic diners in every state," according to Business Insider.

For Massachusetts, the list names South Street Diner as the state's most iconic eatery.

Business Insider notes that South Street Diner is "known for its reliable comfort food and reputation as a go-to stop for night owls."

According to its website, the eatery was built in 1947 and was formerly known as the Blue Diner. It was opened by The Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers, and is currently run by local restaurateur Sol Sidel.

South Street Diner serves everything from breakfast to burgers and vegan specialties. It's open 24/7.

"While the neighborhood around South Street Diner has evolved from factories producing shoes and hand bags, to an artist community, student mecca, and part of the city-wide Big Dig construction site, one thing has remained unchanged --- South Street Diner is Boston's true diner, and the heart of Boston's late night scene," the eatery wrote on its website.
