5 Popular Eateries Opening At This MA Landmark

BOSTON, MA — A handful of new businesses are expected to open this year and next in Boston's newly renovated Commonwealth Pier. Check out the video below to see what's coming.

Salt & Straw, a beloved ice cream shop known for its unique flavors, and the popular health-food eatery LifeAlive Organic Café are just some of the recently announced businesses set to open at the Commonwealth Pier in the city's Seaport neighborhood.

Salt & Straw is known for its fun flavors and current menu items, like pear and blue cheese, Concord grape nut crumble and cinnamon snickerdoodle. The new location will be one of the ice cream chain's more than 50 locations nationwide, including one in Salem, New Hampshire.

Meanwhile, LifeAlive operates in Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington D.C. There are several locations in Greater Boston, with stores in the city, as well as Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville.

The waterfront landmark, located at 200 Seaport Blvd, is currently undergoing renovation to become a more modern, mixed-use development. The pier will feature offices, retail, dining and public spaces.

It originally opened in 1913, and served as the center of the American wool trade, a port of entry for immigrants and a major transportation and exchange hub, according to the Commonwealth Pier website.

LifeAlive and Salt and Straw are set to open in Summer 2026, along with two other businesses from Union Square Hospitality Group. That's the neighborhood kitchen, Daily Provisions, and famous Italian eatery Ci Siamo.

Daily Provisions is a neighborhood cafe with all-day breakfast sandwiches and freshly brewed coffee and teas. The business has another location in Harvard Square.

Meanwhile, Ci Siamo will open a second location of its live-fire Italian restaurant. The eatery, led by Chef Hillary Sterling, is near Manhattan's Hudson Yards.

Plus, Earls Kitchen + Bar is also expected to open at Commonwealth Pier in 2027. The chain operates two other locations in the area, one in Boston's Prudential Center and another in Assembly Row in Somerville.
