MA Mom Accused Of Killing 3 Kids Was Overmedicated: Report

Lindsay Clancy's lawyer told the Boston Herald that she had "some homicidal and suicidal ideations that she could not control."

DUXBURY, MA — The Duxbury mother and nurse accused of strangling her three children to death last week was on medications that turned her into a "zombie," her defense attorney told the Boston Herald Friday.

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz previously announced that the accused, 32-year-old Lindsay Clancy, is in police custody and will be charged with two counts of homicide, three counts of strangulation, and assault and battery with a deadly weapon for the deaths of Cora Clancy, 5, and Dawson Clancy, 3, and the injury of their 8-month-old sibling Callan on Jan. 24. Officials confirmed Jan. 27 that the 8-month-old had also died.

According to the Boston Herald, Clancy's lawyer said she will be arraigned via Zoom on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Plymouth District Court.

Calling Clancy an "incredible mother" who was taking "absolutely staggering" medications, Clancy's lawyer told the Herald that she had "some homicidal and suicidal ideations that she could not control."

The lawyer added that Lindsay Clancy's husband, Patrick Clancy, "did the best he could" and the tragic killings took place when he stepped out for a short time that evening to pick up dinner.

"Cora, Dawson, and Callan were the essence of my life and I’m completely lost without them," Patrick Clancy wrote in a statement shared on a GoFundMe campaign set up on his behalf. "My family was the best thing that ever happened to me. I took so much pride in being Lindsay’s husband and a dad to Cora, Dawson, and Callan."

In lengthy tributes to each of his children, Patrick Clancy described Cora as "so caring" with an infectious laugh and love of baby dolls and princesses, Dawson as a "humorous and generous" little boy whose best quality was his "pure kindness," and Callan as the easy-going child who was "happy and vibrant" and always smiling.

Writing that his wife Linsday Clancy has been portrayed "largely by people who have never met her and never knew who the real Lindsay was," Patrick Clancy said that his marriage was "wonderful and diametrically grew stronger as her condition rapidly worsened."

Massachusetts General Hospital previously told NBC10 reporter Abbey Niezgoda that Lindsay Clancy works at the hospital, and her husband confirmed that she "loved being a nurse."

The double homicide happened Tuesday night at a home along Summer Street in Duxbury. Police went to the home around 6 p.m. after Patrick Clancy called 911 to report that his wife had attempted suicide by jumping out a window at their home.

Inside the home, police found the children with "obvious signs of trauma." The two older children were pronounced dead at a local hospital, and their sibling was flown to a hospital in Boston for treatment and later died.

Patch reached out to Lindsay Clancy's attorney for comment.
