Letter to the Editor: David Clough Running for Selectmen

In his own words, David Clough, running for the Acton Board of Selectmen, asks for your vote.

My name is David Clough and I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Acton Board of Selectman in the town election on Tuesday, March 29th.

I feel fortunate to have lived in Acton for these past 16 years, and would like to ensure that both current and future residents find Acton as desirable a place to live.  An ideal location and supportive community have helped me both personally and professionally.  In addition, this town has prepared my children for whatever the world will throw at them.

I have great respect for the role that the Board of Selectmen plays in leading the town and its forethought to bring us to this point.  With humility, I believe that my experience will help the town in these difficult times.  As selectman I want to help the small businesses in town thrive, increase participation in town volunteerism, and make sound financial decisions that give us the most value for our tax dollar without changing the town culture.

As a consultant to small businesses, I see choices that entrepreneurs need to make every day and have helped guide them through difficult times these past few years. I have led groups in large companies and small businesses, including my own.  I help people make tough decisions based on our collective experience, and I will bring these skills to the Board of Selectman.

As a frequent volunteer at my church and in the many activities that my children have participated in, I understand the value that talented and dedicated volunteers can bring to any organization. We can save money and increase our sense of shared community by more effectively tapping into that vast resource.

I want to make sure that Acton residents continue to receive excellent value for their financial investment in this community. Even as the economy recovers, revenue to towns will lag, so we will need to stay diligent in getting the biggest bang for our buck.

I want to lead and serve the citizens of the town with an ear for Acton businesses and residents. Please visit my website to learn more about me: CloughForActon.com

I ask for your vote on March 29th.
