PHOTO: Acton 9/11 Victim Madeline Amy Sweeney
Acton resident Madeline Amy Sweeney is remembered by family, friends and strangers for her actions on 9/11.

Acton resident Madeline Amy Sweeney had been a flight attendant for 14 years. She was working American Airlines Flight 11 on 9/11/01, when the plane was hijacked and flown into New York's World Trade Center. Sweeney was recognized for the courage she showed that day, picking up the airline phone and calling-in details about what was taking place.
She inspired an annual award for Massachusetts residents who express that same kind of courage; it's called the Madeline Amy Sweeney award for Civilian Bravery.
Sweeney was the wife of Michael Sweeney, and mother to Anna (5 years-old on 9/11/01) and Jack (4 years-old at the time).
