Andover Garden Club Presents "The Joy of Herbs"
Just in Time for Spring Planting, Rita Wollmering Present a Program Covering All Aspects of herbs

Just in time for spring planting, Rita Wollmering will present “The Joy of Herbs,” a program covering all aspects of herbs, from organic growing to harvesting techniques to preserving the resulting herbal bounty in vinegars, oils, honeys, and cleaning products. Well known regionally for her lively, interactive presentations, Wollmering brings depth of knowledge, broad experience, and personal passion to the twin subjects of growing herbs and “going green.”
Wollmering--founder, grower, and manager of The Herb FARMacy (http://theherbfarmacy.com/) in Salisbury MA--began her horticultural career as a child on her parents’ dairy farm. After joining the Peace Corps and working on agricultural projects in the Philippines, she pursued a Master’s degree in international development, then continued her work at the USDA and USAID in Washington DC. Her urge to get back to the farm led to her herb-farming undertaking in Salisbury. When on break from her Salisbury farm, Rita returns to the USAID to volunteer in its Farmer-to-Farmer Program, under whose auspices she has worked in Sri Lanka and Nepal in medicinal herb production.
The program will take place Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 10:00 AM, at South Church, 41 Central Street, Andover MA 01810. The event will begin with social time followed by a brief meeting and the program. A $10 donation is requested for guests (includes refreshments).
