Andover High School Wins 9th Season Of WGBH Quiz Show Program
Andover High had to beat two-time defending champion Lexington High School to win the state champhionship.
ANDOVER, MA -- Take that, US News. The publication may have snubbed Andover High School when it released its rankings of the best high schools in the state last week, but that alleged deficiency didn't stop Andover High students from winning WGBH's High School Quiz Show. Andover beat Lexington in the finals and now moves on to face winning teams from other New England States.
To get to the season 9 finals, coaches Alan Hibino and Krista Hibino had to lead the team through preliminary rounds against Foxborough and Newton North. In the semi-finals Andover beat that other school in town -- Phillips something-or-other. But Lexington was the big challenge: heading into Sunday's final round, Lexington was the two-time defending champ looking to three-peat.
Andover High School will square off against Rhode Island on Saturday, May 19 at 6 pm.
